Go!SMTD Mobile App
Go!SMTD is a mobile ticketing and trip planning application made specifically for the Sangamon Mass Transit District system. There’s no need to carry cash and change or worry about losing a temporary pass - now you can purchase rides and passes on the go with a debit or credit card! When you board, simply activate your fare on your device and then scan your phone screen at the bus farebox.

Notice: Period passes are to be used by individuals, not shared amongst multiple riders. Sharing of unlimited passes is considered theft of SMTD fare and could result in suspension or revocation of riding privileges. As of 12/19/2023, period passes will no longer be available for fixed route use in the mobile app until further notice. See this news posting for more information.
Q & A
How long does it take for fares I purchase to appear in the app?
Fares and passes purchased in the app are available for use immediately. Please note that you must have an active data connection on your mobile device for passes to be activated - they cannot be activated while offline.
What credit cards are accepted?
Visa, Discover, and MasterCard are currently accepted.
Can I transfer my passes from one device to another?
Yes. If you still have access to the original device, log into the app, go to the left-hand menu and select My Passes. On the pass display screen, tap on the profile icon in the upper right-hand corner to access the Account Information screen. After tapping Transfer Account you will need to re-enter your password to release your wallet. Afterwards, the wallet will be available once you sign into the app on your new device.
If you do NOT have access to the original device (lost, stolen, etc.), please contact customer service at either customerservice@smtd.org or +1-217-522-6087. We can unregister your wallet from your previous device so that you can register it on a new one.
Does the trip planner use real-time information?
Yes! The same real-time information used in our Bus Tracker is used in the Go!SMTD app’s trip planner and all departure information.
